WKF SRI LANKA NATIONAL KICKBOXING CHAMPIONSHIPS (January 30th-1st February 2026) was “AWESOME”!
The WKF SRI LANKA KICKBOXING FEDERATION (Asia) has done it again, showcasing ALL Sri Lanka Country it’s Kickboxing “Leadership”, with it’s Event Promotion of the WKF National Amateur Kickboxing Championships (30th January – 1st February 2026), held in Rathnapura (Colombo, Sri Lanka). Leading up front is our WKF Asia Continental Director and WKF Sri Lanka President Mr Pradeep Ekanayaka, as well as his Executive Team at WKF Sri Lanka Kickboxing Federation.
More than 200 Male and Female Fighters of all ages participated from all over Sri Lanka participated at the WKF Sri Lanka National Kickboxing Championships in the beautiful City of Rathnapura, at the local Stadium. Dragon Breath Kickboxing Academy from the Sabaragamuwa Province, came 1st Place, with becoming the “Best Represented Club” at the National Kickboxing Championships by winning the most Gold Medals at the Tournament. United Martial Art Association from the Central Province came in 2nd place, representing well with their Fighters. In 3rd Place Thunder Kickboxing Academy UVA Province came in 3rd place, also doing extremely well with their fighters in the Medals tally.
WKF SRI LANKA KICKBOXING FEDERATION has firmly established itself as the Premier Kickboxing Promotions Company in all Sri Lanka, showcasing not just incredible athletic talent of all ages, but a Winning Premier standard for ALL current and future Tournament Events organization.
Held at the “Premier” Rathnapura Indoor Stadium, the event saw an overwhelming response, drawing over 200 Elite fighters from all Provinces in Sri Lanka. With fight Representatives from over many prestigious Fight Clubs in Sri Lanka competing for the “Top Spot”, the atmosphere was sensational, rightly cementing the National Championships as a critical milestone for Kickboxing in the Region.
WKF SRI LANKA IS “READY” FOR 2026 and BEYOND!
Was great to see the WKF Sri Lanka Referees and Judges from across many Provinces were well represented, to maintain neutrality and precision as WKF Officials. Fully Trained at the 2025 WKF Asia Championships, the Officials were rotated carefully to ensure no Club or State bias could possibly happen during the high-stakes Kickboxing matches, involving all the Top Teams in Sri Lanka. Precision Scoring: In fast-paced categories like Point Fighting and Kick-Light, the Judges were encouraged and praised for their precise sharp eye and split-second decision-making, which kept this great WKF Sri Lanka National Kickboxing Championships Tournament moving in a timely manner.
WKF Sri Lanka Tournament Results: The Champions!
The Battle for the podium was intense, with the following clubs emerging as the strongest in the nation:
🏆 Overall Champions: Dragon Breath Kickboxing Academy from the Sabaragamuwa Province
🥈 First Runners-Up: United Martial Art Association from the Central Province
🥉 Second Runners-Up: Thunder Kickboxing Academy from the UVA Province
🏅 Third Runners-Up: “Everyone” who participated. You are all Legends for participating in this great WKF Event.
WKF Sri Lanka 2026 Event Service & Fighter Welfare:
The success of the 2026 Nationals was largely due to the “Athlete First” approach taken by the World Kickboxing Federation (WKF) and the WKF Sri Lanka Kickboxing Federation. The Organizers provided an extensive support system that allowed fighters to focus entirely on their performance.
Comprehensive Hospitality: All 200 athletes were provided with 3 days of high-quality room accommodations, ensuring they were well-rested for their bouts.
Nutrition & Hydration: Full catering (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) and a constant supply of water were provided for all 3 days of the Event for all Participants.
Medical Safety Net: A Professional Medical Team Doctor provided full-time on-site assistance. Remarkably, the organizers also provided Casualties Cash Support, offering direct financial aid for any injury-related emergencies—a significant step forward for fighter safety in Rathnapura, Sri Lanka. It is great to report that there were “NO” serious injuries at this WKF Event.
Official Recognition: Beyond the prestigious Over-all Champions Trophy awarded to the Dragon Breath Kickboxing Academy, every high-achieving athlete was honored with official Medals and Certificates to mark their qualification and participation. Well done!
A Launch-Pad for Global Success: With the conclusion of this great WKF Sri Lanka National Kickboxing Championships Event, the top fighters from the Dragon Breath Kickboxing Academy,
United Martial Art Association, Thunder Kickboxing Academy, as well as other participating Fighters from various Kickboxing Clubs throughout all Sri Lanka have paved their way toward the WKF World Championships, held later this year in October 2026. The massive turnout of Sri Lanka Kickboxing Clubs at this prestigious WKF Sri Lanka National Kickboxing Championships Event, proves that the infrastructure for WKF Amateur Kickboxing in Sri Lanka is stronger than ever.
WKF Sri Lanka is in contention to “Hosting” the upcoming WKF Amateur World Championships, biding with Africa, Europe, Latin America and other Asia Nations. WKF Sri Lanka President Mr Pradeep Ekanayaka is striving, reaching high success, after successfully
promoting 2 great National and International WKF Titles Events. We are looking forward to seeing more WKF Sri Lanka “FIGHT ACTION” in 2026!
